If some of your family members have four legs, you might be wondering how vaccines affect them. Like pediatricians, most veterinarians strongly recommend a full slate of shots. But unlike children, most pets (and many farm animals) are vaccinated every single year, often for their entire lives.
That raises some big questions:
- What are all those shots doing to their immune systems?
- Are they truly necessary, or even effective?
- What’s really inside the vaccines and what risks might come with them?
- And, perhaps most importantly, what can we do differently?
This article is a sneak peek into our new ebook, Shining a Light on Animal Vaccination. Let’s dive into a few surprising insights.
Core Vaccines: What’s Considered “Essential“
Veterinary authorities recommend a long list of “core” shots for dogs and cats, including distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, parainfluenza, leptospirosis, and rabies.
Over time, the list has grown. For example, leptospirosis was once considered optional but is now widely promoted as “core,” despite only 100–200 human cases a year in the U.S. and widespread reports of adverse reactions in dogs.
Holistic veterinarians have raised concerns that these expanding vaccine requirements may not always be in the best interest of our pets.
What’s Really in the Shots
Pet vaccines contain a cocktail of ingredients, from aluminum salts to antibiotics, preservatives like mercury, and animal or even human-derived growth mediums.
Veterinarian Dee Blanco, who has studied vaccines for over 40 years, describes it bluntly: “I can’t, for the life of me, find the good. What I can find are countless cases where pets develop chronic disease after repeated vaccination.”
This leads us to a troubling reality: Congress itself has declared vaccines “unavoidably unsafe”, and the same principle applies to our animals.
One Example: The Rabies Vaccine
Rabies shots are mandated by law in many states. But did you know that the one-year rabies vaccine is the exact same formula as the three-year shot, just labeled differently?
Research has shown that revaccinating annually doesn’t improve immunity, but it does increase the risk of adverse reactions, from chronic illness to life-threatening complications.
And yet, pet owners across the country continue to be pressured into repeating the same shot year after year.
Where This Leads
The fallout of overvaccination is real. Holistic veterinarians have documented side effects ranging from chronic itching and digestive issues to seizures, cancers, and even behavioral changes like aggression.
One veterinarian put it this way: “Adverse reactions from vaccination may mimic the very diseases the shots are meant to prevent.”
This is just a fraction of what we uncovered. In the full Pet Vaccines ebook, we explore:
- The long-term health impacts of annual vaccination
- How vaccine contamination may have sparked new diseases
- Alternatives like titer testing, nosodes, and natural immunity strategies
- Practical steps you can take today to protect your pets
